Finding Aliens?

Its been a while since we heard any signal from the outer space. The most promising being the "WoW!" signal which was a thought to be something similar to what the SETI astronomers have been looking for. After that there has been no record of any other signal even close to it. It was impossible to pin point the location of the source from where the signal might have come from.

But in next few years SETI's Allen Telescope Array located in Half Creek, California will be working with its full potential. It is being called as one of the biggest projects in SETI's history and has the highest chances of finding any alien life in the universe.

Here's a video if you don't know what I am talking about:-

Finding any intelligent alien species would change the way we think about this world. This would mean we have other earth like planet as a back up where we can go if when we screw this planet. Hopefully their planet is big enough to accumulate the population of both species. On the bright side, we would be introduced to new technology i.e. if they fly here that would give us the idea to build faster and better spaceships and also give us some information about the universe. Other than that, we really don't need to find another intelligent species. Actually, there seem to be more downs than ups.

Here is a list of reasons why we would be better off being alone in the universe.

1. Species exploration
----> I mean, isn't it obvious? We have been doing this on every living body on this planet -- explore their biology. I wouldn't be surprised if we wanted to do the same for another new species which is equally or more intelligent than us. Oh, and they would also want to the same to us.

2. Territory war
----> Ah, the good old territory war...every species on this planet is territorial -- birds, reptiles, cats and humans. Living with the same species is pain enough, sharing it with a new equally or highly intelligent species would drive us nuts.

3. Religious conflict
----> This is a biggie! If we find another intelligent alien life, it would kill all the religious beliefs and practices. It would mean that God didn't just create Adam n Eve but also Mark n Lora! (lol...) The religious community will freak out and they should totally try do everything they can to stop or scrutinize the plans of SETI to find alien life on other planets.

4. Problems between nations
----> This will be interesting to watch because who would decide who would talk to them. Its not like SETI ("USA") would have the total control. Other country's scientists would also want to have a look and chat with them.
Consider that they do come to visit us and land in Iran, would it mean that Iran would have the priority to "talk" with them?

5. They would probably laugh at our social, political systems
----> Finally, if we clear all these problems, they couldn't ignore our stupid system. Differencing between same species, killing each other because we don't believe in same stuff. We wouldn't want them to see the chaos and insanity that we have on Earth.

Conclusion? I don't have one! I believe there has to be at least 100's of other civilizations. We just need to find them.

Reason why Kareena Kapoor is bitchy

I have heard lots of people talk about how bitchy Kareena Kapoor (Bebo) is. She won't pose for a pic and won't give an autograph. Blah, blah, blah.

And all i want to say to these people or rather show these people this picture of a 14-15 year old Bebo.

Now you know why she has the total right to be bitchy about her size zero body and what not.

Before
Karishma and Kareena kapoor

Who would have thought this oversized girl would be ruling the bollywood industry 10 years later by posing in a bikini.

10 old Indian ads that will take you back in time

Here is a list of the best Indian TV ads from 80's and 90's...
These ads will surly bring back some old memories...
Enjoy...

10. Cadbury Dairymilk:-

One of many ads that cadbury dairymilk
introduced in 90's. Dairymilk was
is popular among teenagers since its a perfect
valentine or birthday gift.

9. Vicks(1988):-

I don't really remember this ad and that tells
me that this ad is pretty old.
Although I can't forget, "Vicks ki goli lo, khich khich dur karo..."

8. Vicco Vajradanti (1985):-

I believe this ad is comparatively new because it says, "vicco toothpaste." The older one that I remember only
had "Vicco powder" and grandpa destroying some hard ass thing with his teeth.
And yes, it looks like we did have better teeth back then.

7. Lijjat Papad (1980's):-

What can I say about this ad, just take a look. This not-so-cute bunny
haunted me at nights.
Karram kurram (I know you remember it)

6. Dhaara (1990's):-

One of the most popular ad on indian television.
Even though the ad sounds more like a jalebee's ad,
it is about vegetable oil.

5. Amul (1988):-

A wonderful ad with fantastic folk song music that touched your hearts.

4. Bajaj (1990):-

It was one of the highest selling two wheeler during 1970's to 1990's.
It changed the lifestyle of people.

3. Sarva shiksha abhiyan (school chale hum...):-

This is not old, in fact, it was played on Doordarshan during
Mr. Vajpai's presidency as one of his projects to promote
children to go to school. It stopped playing after just couple of years.
But nevertheless, it had a nice catchy music by Shankar/Ehsaan/Loy
and sung by Kunal Ganjawala.

2. Rastriya Saaksharta Mission:-

Very similar to the No. 3 and also came out during the same period but has a different name.
That old guy in the video totally resembles Mr. Vajpai.

1. Respect you national anthem:-

I know this is quite recent ad, but I haven't seen it in a while and
watching it after long time, filled me with pride. So, I had to give it the top rank.

Dino Morea's Epic Fall...

Well, I thought that Bollywood would stop at copying music, movies and TV shows but it seems like the actors are now going to copy the looks as
well...

Hmm...looks pretty similar. Only that Dino looks a bit drunk.
And may be he would like to buy those geeky glasses that Mr. Depp has been using occasionally.

Ahh, here we go! Perfecto!

No! Dino, No! Please stop
acting like a jerk! Remember where Johnny Depp is and you are...next time please wear something original...

And you know what you get to be for wearing that outfit? You get the tag of "Epic Fall"!!!

We Feel Fine

Here is one of my favorite sites:-

Its called "We Feel Fine" created by Jonathan Harris and Sap Kamvar. All it does is track the feelings of the people on the net! How do they do it?
The system looks for the phrase "I Feel" or "I am Feeling" in the heading or context of the blogs around the world. When it finds the phrase it grabs the entire sentence along with the location and time it was written. It also finds the "feeling" (eg. sad, happy, better, etc) in the sentence and puts it on wefeelfine.org.

Amazing eh? Well, it doesn't end there!

If you visit the website, you will know what I am talking about. Its the interface that is the best part of all. You can sort the feeling by location, age, gender and date! And if thats not enough, you also have 6 choices to view the feelings:-

1. Madness:- The name suggest what you would find on this page. The sentence that was retrieved is represented as a particle (dot) on the screen. The particles move randomly on the screen. The bigger the dot, the bigger the sentence. The dots also have different colors representing the feeling associated with them (eg. if the dot is BLUE then the sentence is related to bad, etc).

2. Murmurs:- This option puts the sentences one by one with the corresponding particle.

3. Montage:- Lets say that the sentence that was retrieved also has a picture, the montage option shows all the photo that was in the blog and shows it in a grid.

4. Mobs:- This puts the feeling in ascending order. So, if lots of people have used the feeling "better" in the phrase then it would be at the top followed by the next most used feeling.

5. Metrics:- Shows the most representative feeling of people in the last few hours.

6. Mounds:- This is the best one! It separates the feelings as jelly
mountains with the corresponding color. The mounds also jiggle like jelly!

So, lets end this post by using the phrase i feel -- i feel like this was one of best websites i have seen in a long time.
